Evidence is key
When the squall hits, batten down your hatches but also remember to:
Screenshot Everything!
- All emails and correspondence
- Any relevant articles and social media posts.
- Do a reverse search on all articles and posts.
- Screenshot the profile of every person who shared the offending articles or post on social media and screenshot their recent activity.
· Archive all images and posts on social media.
Capture / record all TV footage and any videos:
A recent altercation on a major airliine's flight highlights the need for video proof.
The injured party, a global music celebrity claimed a flight attendant had used unusually strong language when getting him to listen to cabin crew instructions.
He accused her of racism and over handedness. She countered that saying he'd been belligerent.
Soon both parties went public on Twitter and in the media, slinging mud at each other.
Had a camera been present, they would have been able to use it as evidence of what actually happened.
We all bring and take our personal perspective from a situation. There are so many instances that the accounts of both parties differ, even from the truth itself.
Having a recording of what really happened can sometimes be the best weapon in your arsenal. As long as it's not shared on social media!
Use filters & keywords to recreate positive media:
Add negative keyword filters using variations of any negative post or article title and also list out all the keywords appearing frequently in the comments.
Use as many different social media platforms and their features to zero in on keywords that are relevant to the crisis at hand.
Then work with your SEO specialist to create content that uses the negative keywords yet spins them into a positive yet honest and truthful light.
This helps to restrain the negative publicity by introducing new content that is in your favour.
Think on it.
