“Wise men don't need advice. Fools won't take it.” ― Benjamin Franklin

“That's what life's all about: little by little, day by day, with excruciating stubbornness, each of us learning how to be less screwed up.” ― Dean Koontz, Icebound

I once knew a woman who for all intensive purposes had heart and drive. But what she didn’t have in her arsenal was an education, business intelligence, experience and knowledge.

She deemed them unimportant; instead she relied on her beauty and personality for success.

So she’d come up with grand business ideas and pitch them to investors – yet one after the other, they failed to transpire into anything meaningful.

She spent years pitching her concepts, one after another, yet they all faded into ether. When the stage smoke, fog, haze and steam (in this case her bubbly attractive personality) had vanished, all was left, in the minds of her investors and potential business partners was befuddlement and confusion, puzzled and put off by her lack of basic business knowledge.

She’d then spend months trying to understand why she’d failed, stubbornly refusing to heed advice from friends and colleagues that she needed to spend some time in study to increase her knowledge.

Her reputation suffered as a result and she was soon facing her 50s with little to show for it.

There are many who have succeeded without an education - what they’ve done instead is acquire street smarts, grit and natural business acumen.

They also sought knowledge incessantly and taught themselves the crucial aspects of their business until they perfected them.

The key here is to be totally transparent with yourself.

Understand what you have in your cache, then make up for what you don’t. If you get feedback from those who love you about needing more life, work or learning experience in order to follow your dreams, don’t dismiss them.

They might just have some insight you can’t see yourself.

Insight Inspiration:

Let go of stubbornness when it comes to gaining experience insight, knowledge and the wisdom of acting on what you’ve learned.

Stubbornness comes very close to foolishness and can greatly impact your good name.

If you don’t have the experience, chops and knowledge in your chosen career, you will be found out.

Don’t look down on an education, on studying and learning from those who’ve gone before you.

Your personality and looks will only take you so far.

Think on it.
